Léo Therrien, Place des Arts’ Executive Director, will soon retire

Léo Therrien, Place des Arts’ Executive Director, will be stepping down on April 1st, 2022. He waited until after the completion of Place des Arts to announce his retirement.

“We warmly thank Léo for his contributions to Place des Arts,” said its chairperson Alain Richard. “He carried out the mandate we gave him when he was hired three years ago, which was to bring Place des Arts’ construction project to fruition, to manage the organization, to recruit staff members and to handle the operational details that accompany a project of this magnitude. Leo has much to be proud of. Place des Arts is another feather in his cap, a remarkable career in which he has founded no less than three community institutions, including Village international Sudbury and the Sudbury Hospice.”

Mr. Richard indicated that Mr. Therrien will remain around Place des Arts as a volunteer. He also mentioned that, circumstances permitting, the founding organizations of Place des Arts will move there in February.

“It’s the right time for me to leave and for a new person to take over,” said Therrien. “I’m now looking forward to spending more time at the cottage with my family.”

Place des Arts’ Board of Directors will soon begin the process of hiring a new Executive Director to guide the venue to its official opening and beyond.

Place des Arts’ mission is to “make possible and accessible quality cutural and artistic experiences, which have a lasting impact on the lives of citizens and contribute to the development and the well being of the Francophone and Greater Sudbury communities.”
