Songwriters present a work in progress that they\u2019ve never performed publicly. They discuss its inspiration, exploration and evolution. Their peers add their touch to the process. A song is born before our eyes and ears. Hosted by Anique Granger, this unique intimate concert features Yves Doyon, Michel Laforge and Tricia Foster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La Nuit \u00e9mergente<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once a year, Sudbury gets to discover emerging recording artists in a unique environment. It\u2019s like a music festival in a park, but in a building. Concerts take place in various spaces. Spectators wander freely, meeting music at every turn. On stage are those that stood out this season among the many up-and-coming performers scouted by La Slague\u2019s programming team. \u201cSudbury has to see this!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s La Nuit \u00e9mergente. You want to be there. Because these emerging artists are hot stuff. They surprise, they impress. They win you over. Great new music marks our times by marking moments. When it clicks, you sense it. Something inside you feels new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every year, our poster comes up with new Hollywoodian apocalyptic imagery. It\u2019s meant to evoke the power of emerging music and promise an exciting experience. Among Sudbury\u2019s old stereotypes are, of course, blackened rock, blasted ore and sulphurous air. This year\u2019s poster uses local imagery to imagine a setting for supernatural adventures in emergence: molten red slag, dark shadowy slag heaps and, howling with glee, a three-headed dog. Okay, then!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there\u2019s nothing infernal about La Nuit \u00e9mergente. In fact, the selected artists for this 10th anniversary edition are at both ends of the spectrum. Of course, there\u2019s high-energy music to dance to.
