Our popular series of musical pairings presents its third season!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our sweet little concert series has been a big success! Au bistro des d\u00e9couvertes<\/em>, as the name implies, is a place for discoveries in music, but also just a nice place to spend an evening. Our audience feedback tells us that this series has a uniquely personal and relaxed vibe that keeps them coming back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The secret to this special ambiance? It\u2019s the special camaraderie among musicians. The formula is as follows: a well-known figure in Francophone musical circles invites us to meet a lesser-known, yet highly talented musical acquaintance. A high-school friend. A rising star. A talented back-up band member. A dream-come-true stage partner. One thing is sure: it will be a memorable encounter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with their musical recommendations, the host artists also share their food preferences by composing the evening\u2019s meal menu. Their chosen dish and drinks evoke memories of travel and family gatherings or their go-to comfort food. Even the recorded music in the background during the meal is the host artist\u2019s playlist. The overall effect is a special impression, as if we\u2019ve been invited into a star\u2019s inner circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Au bistro des d\u00e9couvertes<\/em>, over the course of two seasons, we\u2019ve welcomed the likes of Robert Paquette, Stef Paquette, Patricia Cano, Dayv Poulin, Ed Landry, C\u00e9cile Doo-Kingu\u00e9, Simon Jutras and many more, including the series\u2019 creator himself, Dan B\u00e9dard, in the company of their invited musical guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like us regular folk, headliner musicians love to share their tastes in music with friends. So, come and be a friend! It\u2019s one Tuesday per month, from September to December. Consider this your personal invitation. We\u2019ll meet up soon, Au bistro des d\u00e9couvertes<\/em>, season 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt Foy pr\u00e9sents…<\/strong>
Sudbury\u2019s Matt Foy has been playing for 30 years. He\u2019s into instrumental music of the \u201950s and \u201960s that conjure up dusty plains, dive bars and speedways, when it\u2019s not old-school reggae and ska. He also composes for film and television. So, for the soundtrack of your life, there\u2019s your man. Seeing as he appreciates music made atmospheric, this evening he presents friends who know a thing or two about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drones over Dufferin<\/strong>
Toronto-based brothers David and Duncan Mackinnon master a mesmerizing art of long-form instrumental improvisations that extend majestically across vast landscapes made of pedal steel guitar chords, looped musical textures and found sounds recorded in the field. These placid, shimmering drones take you higher, like airborne emotions and meditative mantras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover our host artist’s favorite meal from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the show from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Enchanting Dinner:<\/strong>
Cabbage salad with fennel and green apples, served with a creamy dill dressing
Moroccan-style beef meatballs over saffron lemon rice
Chickpeas and cauliflower with curry and lemon
And for dessert:<\/strong>
Baked apples stuffed with nuts and dried fruits, drizzled with maple syrup
A feast that delights the senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
