Au bistro des découvertes ! Dan Bedard presents Martin Alex Aucoin

18 Mar
March 18th, 2025 from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm Le Studio Desjardins

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD IN FRENCH

Not all great talents are great stars. Discovering them, despite their relative obscurity, is a keenly felt pleasure. We gain an appreciation for our milieu, capable of offering such beautiful presences. We share the thrill of a brand-new performance. We experience a moment of beautiful accompaniment that wants to do good, just by forging a link.

It’s in this spirit that La Slague invites you to “Au bistro des découvertes”. This intimate concert series is carefully curated, with new talent personally recommended by seasoned French Ontario artists. Our old hands on the music scene are well placed to make good musical acquaintances, and like us, the stars love to share their finds with their friends. So be one of their friends!

At the Bistro des Découvertes, you’ll come for the good atmosphere, the good food, the good music, the good company, all under the guidance of the evening’s artist godparents, to create an intimate and convivial evening with their protégés.

An initiative of La Slague, under the artistic direction of Dan Bédard.

Daniel Bedard presents…
He is our all-rounder in music. He has produced award-winning albums (Stef Paquette, Jacinthe Trudeau, Pierre et le papillon, Robert Dickson, Michel Dallaire); scored films, TNO plays, multimedia productions for international science centers; composed modern classical works; taught music at the post-secondary level; musical director of Nuit sur l’étang and NLFB. That’s enough, you understand: this likeable gentleman leads an impressive career. Oh yes, and the Bistro des découvertes is his idea. Tonight, he introduces us to his old classmate.

Martin Alex Aucoin
Originally from Chéticamp, Acadia, he passed through Sudbury in the late ’70s to study at Cambrian, then Humber Jazz. A sought-after keyboardist, he has played in country and R&B bands and Nashville studios for Garth Brooks, Ricky Van Shelton and the great cadjin Jimmy C. Newman, among many others. His jazz-blues album So Far was a finalist in the East Coast Music Awards. His work on Johnny Max Band’s A Lesson I’ve Learned, a blend of Muscle Shoals and New Orleans jazz, was nominated for Juno and Maple Blues Awards. All of which means: you want to get to know this classmate, too.

Discover our host’s favorite meal from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the show from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Tonight, his favorite meal, a beef stew followed by a pudding for dessert, and enjoy your meal with a glass of frangelico.

**Please note that the ticket does not include the meal**.
