It all started on the outskirts of Berlin, in a small chapel, with a three-part harmony. Daniel Lanois and two buddies. Jermaine Holmes is there, on drums, the mighty Jim Wilson on bass, and Lanois on guitar. Their three voices blend and echo. The acoustics of the chapel are such that the voices are too beautiful. So, the instruments go silent. They let the voices fill the night.
That dynamic configuration is now being presented as a live performance, in various formats. The more Lanois travels, the more he feels that mediums merge into one another; the record, the radio, the internet, TV, festivals, life itself and, of course, SINGING.
The original instrument, which is the voice, is alive and well in this trio configuration.”
