Reading: ça rime avec vinaigre (Théâtre Catapulte)

ÇA RIME AVEC VINAIGRE tells the story of racism from a child’s point of view. Donny, 7 years old, is caught in a vicious circle following an altercation in the playground. A banal altercation that could have gone unnoticed, but which leads to a series of incidents that unveil the hidden face of racism as it is not called in our Toronto society, which claims to be inclusive.
A story of deep friendship between two little boys unravels until it completely deconstructs itself. Inspired by a bitter experience my son had at age 7, he gave me permission to tell his story now that he is 11.
Punctuated by colorful creoleisms taken from traditional Caribbean tales, this story moves between the playful imagination of a child driven by the desire for a more just society and the reality of adults strangled by their stereotypes and limiting perceptions.
