Zaddy Issues is a bilingual play that explores the grief of a living parent. During a move to her new apartment, Anaïs’ girlfriend Letty discovers her father’s old phone hidden in one of the boxes. Through a story that weaves between monologues and scenes with the two lovers, the circumstances of Anaïs’ father’s disappearance become increasingly clear. And complicated! One foot in her childhood and the other caught in an iPhone 4, Anaïs will have to repair the ruptures of her childhood to finally feel complete. This play is a love letter to those who choose to stay, to the complexity of parenthood, to the adversity of female trans-identity, but above all, it is a love letter to the deep fractures of childhoods that are too short.
