Place des Arts du Grand Sudbury Opens Its Doors!

After a half-century of cherished dreams, a decade of strong collaboration and countless hours of hard work, Place des Arts du Grand Sudbury has become a reality at last!

To welcome you for the first time, Place des Arts and its seven founding organizations invite you to an open house weekend. Come and experience your new cultural hub in a relaxed, fun-filled event!

“We truly can’t wait to see you and experience this space together! It will be a great pleasure to hold a housewarming celebration with you on April 29 and 30, 2022,” says Alain Richard, President of Place des Arts du Grand Sudbury, on behalf of the seven co-founding organizations: Carrefour francophone, Centre franco-ontarien de folklore, Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, Éditions Prise de parole, Nuit sur l’étang, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario, and the Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury.

Starting at 3:00 p.m., Place des Arts welcomes dignitaries and major donors of the construction project for an inauguration ceremony. This will be followed by the unveiling of the permanent artwork by Lise Beaudry and a festive cocktail reception. By invitation only.

Then, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., the general public is invited to stroll through Place des Arts as they please, with or without a guide! The event will feature art installations, art exhibitions, artist performances and DJs. You’ll also be able to have a drink and a bite to eat at the Bistro! Reserve your spot here.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., young and old alike will have a fun-filled family day to enjoy their new cultural home! There will be a scavenger hunt, face painting, storytelling, construction games, clowns, art exhibits and more!

Place des Arts requires the wearing of masks inside the building, except when eating or drinking.
