La Nuit émergente – 8th Edition

21 May
May 21st, 2022 at 7:00 pm Place des Arts
This event has already taken place.

A dozen performers on several stages in one exciting evening. Audiences wander freely, exploring an eclectic array of up-and-coming talents in a festival atmosphere. That’s the vibe at La Nuit émergente, an innovative event that really hits the spot with Sudbury audiences. Now, for the first time, it’s happening at Place des Arts.

The pandemic forced us to cancel this event in 2020 and 2021, but this year, our emerging music festival will shine brighter than ever!

Finally, after two years of hiding, we’re announcing the 8th edition of La Nuit émergente. To mark our return, La Nuit émergente will reappear in a magnificent new venue: La Place des Arts du Grand Sudbury.

Four days of concerts and activities!

This year’s programming extends over four days. But the heart of La Nuit émergente is still the concert event on Saturday, May 21, starting at 6 PM, featuring nine bands and performers in total. These acts are La Slague’s top picks among the newest sounds, trends and styles emerging in the Franco music scene these days.

Many of these acts hail from Quebec: from Montreal, of course, but also Abitibi and the far reaches of Côte-Nord. They are: Et on déjeune, Alex Pic, Émilio Portal, Chloé Lacasse, Matiu, Mort Rose, Solipsisme et Larynx. Musically, they are all over the map: psychedelic rock, poetic pop, songwriter’s rock, electro/hip-hop fusion, and more.

These artists will perform a variety of spaces, some small and intimate, some unexpected, throughout the Place des Arts building. Concert-goers can wander though the building and seek them out, composing their own adventure as they go. The adventure can extend well into the night with the after-hours event at the Townehouse Tavern, starting at 11 PM.
